If you are currently experiencing food poisoning or have in the past, you know how horrible it can make you feel….the diarrhea, vomiting (maybe), weakness, shivering, and fatigue…
I’m here to share with you how you can naturally overcome food poisoning fast and effectively!
I recently got food poisoning and it was the first time I’ve puked in 6-7 years, so that is what really inspired me to make this blog post for you!
First I’m gonna start by sharing which supplements can be helpful, then I’m going to get into other extremely helpful tips!
Supplements that can be extremely helpful:
- Oregano oil capsules; has anti microbial properties (be sure to take probiotics with it)
- Activated charcoal; helps to remove toxins (be sure to take at least an hour before you consume food or take supplements or medications, and wait at least 2 hours after eating or taking supplements or medications to take it)
- Probiotics 5-50 billion CFU; helps restore healthy gut bacteria
- Garlic capsules; has anti microbial properties (be sure to take probiotics with it)
- Vitamin C
- L-Glutamine; can help sooth the GI tract
Personally all I’ve tried in the past has been oregano oil, probiotics, and activated charcoal. For me those worked well without having to supplement with anything else!
Other things to do:
- Drink lots of water, vegetable broth, and/or bone broth
- Drink coconut water which contains electrolytes
- Drink ginger or peppermint tea
- Consume foods that are easy on the digestive system such as white rice, yellow bananas with a bit of green, and applesauce. After a day or so you can start introducing other foods slowly, paying attention to how you feel and what you feel like eating (I LOVE sardines, but for days after I got food poisoning, the thought of them nauseated me!)
- Consume anti microbial foods such as garlic, ginger, and citrus
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, and added sugar
- Get lots of rest
- Drink carrot and/or beet juice for 1-3 days once you’re in recovery
***The first day when you’re experiencing diarrhea and vomiting (or maybe not vomiting), just focus on drinking and staying hydrated, and then towards the afternoon or evening if you feel like eating you can eat a bit of applesauce, yellow UNSPOTTED bananas, or white rice. Don’t force yourself to eat it you don’t feel like eating; your body may just need to rest and fight off the bad guys while not having to deal with digesting food.
I hope this was helpful! Be sure to check out some of my other posts as well if you haven’t already!
